1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
2 Section 11-1414.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 changing Section 11-1414.1 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/11-1414.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1414.1)
8 Sec. 11-1414.1. School transportation of students.
9 (a) Every student enrolled in grade 12 or below in any
10 entity listed in paragraph (a) of Section 1-182 of this Code
11 who is transported in a second division motor vehicle owned
12 or operated by or for that entity, in connection with any
13 official activity of such entity, must be transported in a
14 school bus or a bus described in subparagraph (1) of
15 paragraph (b) of Section 1-182.
16 (b) This Section shall not apply to any second division
17 vehicle being used by such entity in a parade, homecoming or
18 similar school activity, or agrarian related school activity,
19 nor to a motor vehicle designed for the transportation of
20 not less than 7 nor more than 16 persons while that vehicle
21 is being operated by or for a public or private primary or
22 secondary school, including any primary or secondary school
23 operated by a religious institution, for the purpose of
24 transporting not more than 15 students to and from
25 interscholastic athletic or other interscholastic or school
26 sponsored activities.
