1 AN ACT concerning the eligibility of appointed
2 prosecutors for elective office.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
6 Prosecutor Eligibility for Elective Office Act.
7 Section 5. Ineligibility of appointed prosecutors for
8 elective office. No person serving as an appointed
9 prosecutor may seek election to, be elected to, or be
10 appointed to fill the unexpired term of an elective office of
11 the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of State
12 government, of a unit of local government as defined in
13 Section 1 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution, of a
14 school district, or of a political party for a period of 5
15 years after the conclusion of the appointment as prosecutor.
