1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
2 Section 11-1414.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 changing Section 11-1414.1 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/11-1414.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1414.1)
8 Sec. 11-1414.1. School transportation of students.
9 (a) Every student enrolled in grade 12 or below in any
10 entity listed in paragraph (a) of Section 1-182 of this Code
11 who is transported in a second division motor vehicle owned
12 or operated by or for that entity, in connection with any
13 official activity of such entity, must be transported in a
14 school bus or a bus described in subparagraph (1) of
15 paragraph (b) of Section 1-182.
16 (b) This Section shall not apply to any second division
17 vehicle being used by such entity in a parade, homecoming or
18 similar school activity, or an agrarian related school
19 activity, nor to a motor vehicle designed for the
20 transportation of not less than 7 nor more than 16 persons
21 while that vehicle is being operated by or for a public or
22 private primary or secondary school, including any primary or
23 secondary school operated by a religious institution, for the
24 purpose of transporting not more than 15 students to and from
25 interscholastic athletic or other interscholastic or school
26 sponsored activities.

28 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
29 becoming law.
