Short description: 
CRIM CD-ENDANGERING CHILD                                                  

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.  Provides that endangering  the      
   life  or  health  of a child is a Class 4 felony if the violation is a      
   proximate cause of great bodily harm to the child.  A  violation  that      
   is a proximate cause of the death of the child is a Class 3 felony for      
   which  a  person,  if  sentenced  to  a term of imprisonment, shall be      
   sentenced to a term of not less than 2 years  and  not  more  than  10      
   years.  Effective immediately.                                              
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
        Removes new provision that makes endangering the life  or  health      
   of  a  child  that  is the proximate cause of great bodily harm to the      
   child a Class 4 felony.

          Corrections population and fiscal impact is minimal.
