Senate Sponsors: BOWLES. Short description: ELEC CD-CNTY OFFCR-VACANCY-NOM Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Election Code. Provides that when a vacancy occurs in any elective county office in a county which is not a home rule unit, the county central committee of the political party of which the incumbent was a candidate at the time of his or her election shall submit a list of 3 nominees to fill the vacancy to the chairman of the county board within 30 days after the vacancy. Provides that the appointee shall be one of the 3 nominees on the list submitted to the chairman of the county board, a member of the same political party as the person he or she succeds was at the time of his or her election, and otherwise eligible to serve (now a member of the same political party and otherwise eligible to serve).
