House Sponsors: LEITCH-ERWIN-DART-FLOWERS Short description: DCFS-EDUC ASSISTANCE GRANTS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Children and Family Services Act. Provides that the Department of Children and Family Services may provide categories of financial assistance (now, financial assistance) and education assistance grants to persons who adopt or are appointed guardian of physically or mentally handicapped, older, or other hard-to-place children. Removes the requirement that the assistance must be at least $25 less than the monthly cost of care of the child in the foster home. Provides that the Department may establish rules and regulations concerning the grants.
