Short description: 
INSR BATTERY AS DECISION BASIS                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Illinois Insurance Code.  Provides that a company  may      
   not  use the fact that an applicant or insured was injured as a result      
   of a battery committed by a spouse or person in the same household  as      
   the sole basis of a rating, underwriting, or claims handling decision.      
   Effective immediately.                                                      
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Provides that an insurer may not refuse to pay a  co-insured  for      
   property  damage  caused by intentional acts if the co-insured did not      
   contribute to the creation of the  loss,  the  loss  arose  out  of  a      
   pattern of domestic violence, and the perpetrator is prosecuted.            
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2.                                                 
        Limits the prohibition to companies issuing policies of  property      
   and casualty insurance.
