House Sponsors: FRITCHEY. Short description: ELEC CD-CASH CONTRIBTIONS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Election Code. Provides that no candidate or political committee shall accept cash contributions in excess of $150 from any person or entity during any calendar year. Provides that any contribution in excess of $150 shall be made by negotiable instrument or be evidenced by an itemized credit card receipt. Provides that a violation is a Class A misdemeanor. Provides that a person who is convicted of violating the limits shall be fined 3 times the amount of the contributions accepted in violation of the limits. Provides that a contribution accepted in violation of the limits shall escheat to the State of Illinois. Effective immediately.
