Short description: 
CRIM CD-FRAUD                                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.  Expands  the  Insurance  Fraud      
   Article  to  include  fraud  on the government.  Includes self-insured      
   entities in the various fraud provisions.  Establishes penalties based      
   upon the value of the property obtained or attempted  to  be  obtained      
   fraudulently.   Changes the names of these various offenses that limit      
   them just to insurance fraud.                                               
          FISCAL NOTE (Dept. of Corrections)                                   
          There will be a minimal fiscal impact on this Dept.                  
          STATE MANDATES FISCAL NOTE                                           
          HB 1117 fails to meet the definition of a State mandate.             
          CORRECTIONAL NOTE                                                    
          No change from DOC fiscal note.                                      
          JUDICIAL NOTE                                                        
          It is not possible to determine the impact on the need to            
          increase the number of judges in the State.
