   40 ILCS 5/5-168           from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 5-168                      

        Amends the Chicago Police Article of the Pension Code to increase      
   the multiplier used to calculate the maximum  allowable  pension  tax,      
   from 2.00 to 2.26.  Effective immediately.                                  
          PENSION NOTE                                                         
          Employers contributions in FY1996 with a multiplier of 2.00          
          totaled $112 M; with a multiplier of 2.36, $133 M.
