DEERING.

   730 ILCS 5/3-7-3          from Ch. 38, par. 1003-7-3                        

        Amends the  Unified  Code  of  Corrections.   Provides  that  the      
   Department  of  Corrections  shall  construct  or  remodel  sufficient      
   maximum  security  facility  space  to  ensure that by July 1, 2002 at      
   least 75% of all prisoners housed in maximum security  facilities  are      
   single-celled. Effective immediately.                                       
          CORRECTIONAL NOTE                                                    
          There is no correctional population impact and fiscal impact         
          would be $448,000,000.
