Amends the Campaign Contributions and Expenditures
Article of the Election Code by making technical changes to
the Section concerning investigations, inquires, and hearings
by the State Board of Elections.

1 AN ACT to amend the Election Code by changing Section
2 9-18.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
6 Section 9-18 as follows:
7 (10 ILCS 5/9-18) (from Ch. 46, par. 9-18)
8 Sec. 9-18. Investigations, inquires, and hearings. The
9 Board may hold investigations, inquiries, and hearings
10 concerning any matter covered by this Article, subject to any
11 such rules and regulations that as the Board may establish.
12 In the process of holding the such investigations, inquiries,
13 and hearings, the Board may administer oaths and
14 affirmations, certify to all official acts, issue subpoenas
15 to be authorized by a vote of 5 members of the Board, compel
16 the attendance and testimony of witnesses, and the production
17 of papers, books, accounts, and documents. Hearings conducted
18 by the Board shall be open to the public.
