 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives  are
 3    saddened  to learn of the death of Roscoe E. Mitchell, Jr. on
 4    April 10, 1998; and
 5        WHEREAS, He was born in Chicago on August 27,  1934,  the
 6    son of Mary and Roscoe, Sr.; he graduated from Englewood High
 7    School, received his bachelor's degree from the University of
 8    Illinois  and  his  master's  degree  from  the University of
 9    Chicago; and
10        WHEREAS,  A  veteran  of  the  United  States  Army,  Mr.
11    Mitchell  served  as  the  Director   of   Equal   Employment
12    Opportunities  for  Zenith Electronics, an Executive Director
13    of the Talent Assistance Program, and as a General Manager of
14    Real Estate for the Chicago Transit Authority; and
15        WHEREAS,  He  was  affiliated  with  the  University   of
16    Illinois  Dad's Association, the St. Felicitas Finance Board,
17    a Silver Beaver recipient of the Boy Scouts of America, Kappa
18    Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Fifties Black Illini,  the  Druids,
19    the Assembly, the M and M's, and the Rat Pack; and
20        WHEREAS,  His  passing  will be deeply felt by his family
21    and friends,  especially  his  wife,  Jackie;  his  children,
22    Steven,  Karen,  Roslyn,  Valerie,  and  Robert;  his sister,
23    Eleanor;  and  his  grandchildren,  Jordan,  Stephanie,   and
24    Steven, Jr.; therefore, be it
25        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
26    NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  we
27    express  with  sorrow  and  regret  the  death  of  Roscoe E.
28    Mitchell, Jr. and  extend  our  sincere  condolences  to  his
29    family and friends; and be it further
30        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
31    presented to Mrs. Jackie Mitchell.
