 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, CROP Walks began in 1946 and  are  sponsored  by
 3    Church  World Service; the majority of resources generated by
 4    the Walks goes to the work of partner agencies in  more  than
 5    70 countries, including the United States; and
 6        WHEREAS,  After  World  War  II,  29  denominations  came
 7    together  to  form  an  agency to do in partnership what none
 8    could do alone: feed the hungry, clothe the naked,  heal  the
 9    sick, comfort the aged, and shelter the homeless; and
10        WHEREAS,  In  Illinois,  a CROP Concert has been held for
11    four years; the concert helps to raise the funds; and
12        WHEREAS, Seventy-five percent of the monies  raised  goes
13    to   Church   World  Service  to  use  at  their  discretion;
14    twenty-five percent remains in  the  area  in  which  it  was
15    raised; and
16        WHEREAS, The CROP Walks and CROP Concerts do well to earn
17    funds for the needy; therefore, be it
18        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
19    NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  we
20    commend  the  CROP  Walks  and CROP Concerts on the good work
21    they do and take this opportunity to wish then well  for  the
22    future; and be it further
23        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
24    presented to Loyd Maxey, President.
