1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their congratulations on the
4 renaming of the Honker's Point Area at Carlyle Lake to the
5 James W. Hawn Access Area at Carlyle Lake; and
6 WHEREAS, James W. Hawn was a Park Ranger with the United
7 States Army Corps of Engineers at the Carlyle Lake Project
8 Office; Mr. Hawn served in the fields of public service,
9 professional resource management, and outdoor recreation; Mr.
10 Hawn oversaw the Visitor Assistance and Interpretive Services
11 and Outreach Programs at Carlyle Lake; and
12 WHEREAS, James W. Hawn was an active member of the
13 community, serving as a member of the Carlyle Lake Ducks
14 Unlimited Committee, as a Director for the Illinois
15 Federation of Outdoor Resources, and as an Advisory Board
16 Member for the Southwestern Illinois Tourism and Convention
17 Bureau; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Hawn was instrumental in the planning and
19 development of the Honker's Point Vegetative Management Area;
20 in addition, he coordinated many of the hunts that were held
21 in the area; Mr. Hawn lost his life in an automobile accident
22 last year; in recognition of his hard work, the renaming of
23 Honker's Point Area to the James W. Hawn Access Area will
24 occur on Thursday June 25, 1998, along with the placement of
25 a bench at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center in his honor;
26 therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 extend our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of
30 James W. Hawn; by naming this area of Carlyle Lake in his
31 honor, and by the placing of a bench in his name, may his
32 family find comfort in this time of need; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Jams W. Hawn.
