1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of this House that
3 the Village of Hoffman is celebrating its quasquicentennial
4 anniversary; and
5 WHEREAS, The Village of Hoffman was founded in 1873, at
6 that time known as Osnabrueck; its early settlers came from
7 Germany; and
8 WHEREAS, It became an official Village when it became
9 formally incorporated in 1951; from a small community the
10 Village has seen the installation of street lights, the
11 coming of the railroad, the turn of the century, the Roaring
12 Twenties, World War II, and the growth of the business
13 district, police department, fire department, and schools;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, Hoffman is facing the twenty-first century with
16 dreams of blending future growth with a preservation of the
17 past; and
18 WHEREAS, The residents of the Village of Hoffman are
19 proud of its history and its contribution to the culture of
20 the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
23 congratulate the residents of the Village of Hoffman on the
24 one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of its founding and
25 extend our sincere wishes for future success and growth; and
26 be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to Dennis Nottmeyer, Mayor of the Village of
29 Hoffman.
