 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish to congratulate Sandy Wartman on thirty
 4    years of service; and
 5        WHEREAS, Sandy Wartman was born  and  raised  in  Calumet
 6    City,  Illinois;  she began her career with the park district
 7    in 1965 when she spent the  summer  as  a  basket  girl;  she
 8    graduated  from  high  school  in  1966, served with VISTA in
 9    1967, and on June 1, 1968 became  the  full  time  recreation
10    leader for the Calumet Memorial Park District; and
11        WHEREAS,  Sandy  Wartman  became  the  Superintendent  of
12    Recreation  in  January  of  1972,  and  in  1985  became the
13    Director of Parks and Recreation for  Calumet  Memorial  Park
14    District; and
15        WHEREAS, Her professional philosophy is to provide a safe
16    environment in the parks, and recreation and leisure services
17    that  touch all; she is responsible for the creation of adult
18    volleyball, softball, and  basketball  leagues,  as  well  as
19    other  programs  such  as  the youth sports leagues and craft
20    classes; she was instrumental in the creation of the  Special
21    Recreation   Services,  the  Burnham  Greenway  Project,  the
22    Superior Street Ball Field Complex, and preserving many acres
23    for the Nature Preserve; and
24        WHEREAS, Sandy Wartman is a member  of  TTRAPP-  Thornton
25    Township  Regional  Action  Planning  Project,  SRS- Board of
26    Directors for Special Recreation Services,  IPRA-  Member  of
27    the  Illinois  Parks  and  Recreation  Association, and NRPA-
28    Member of the National Recreation and Parks Association; and
29        WHEREAS, Sandy Wartman was a volunteer coach for the  St.
30    Victor's Girls Volleyball and Basketball programs; she sat on
31    the  Athletic  Board  before resigning to work full-time with

 1    the park district; Sandy Wartman is truly  dedicated  to  the
 2    parks of Calumet City and the surrounding area; therefore, be
 3    it
 4        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 5    NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  we
 6    commend Sandy Wartman for a job well done; and be it further
 7        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 8    presented to Sandy Wartman.
