1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Peoria Medical Society was organized in 1848
3 by Doctors Rouse, Dickinson, Frye, Arnold, McNeil, Cooper,
4 and Murphy by gathering in "the dingy office of Dr. Frye";
5 and
6 WHEREAS, The members of the Peoria Medical Society were
7 pioneers who actively assisted the Illinois State Medical
8 Society in its earliest days; and
9 WHEREAS, The Peoria Medical Society is the oldest
10 continuous county Medical Society in Illinois; and
11 WHEREAS, Members of the Peoria Medical Society have
12 contributed importantly through the years to the development
13 of medicine in Peoria, the State of Illinois, and throughout
14 the United States; and
15 WHEREAS, The Peoria Medical Society will celebrate its
16 150th anniversary with a gala ball on the evening of May 1,
17 1998 at the historic Hotel Pere Marquette in Downtown Peoria;
18 therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21 congratulate the Peoria Medical Society on the celebration of
22 one hundred and fifty years of serving the needs of the
23 people of Peoria, and the people of Illinois; and be it
24 further
25 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to the Peoria Medical Society.
