 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS,  The  Centralia  Historical  Hall  of  Fame  has
 3    announced its 1998 inductees; and
 4        WHEREAS, Dewey Kessler will be one of the inductees  into
 5    the  Historical  Hall  of  Fame;  Mr.  Kessler passed away on
 6    December 22, 1997; Mr. Kessler was a lifelong resident of the
 7    Centralia area; and
 8        WHEREAS, Mr. Kessler was vice president  of  finance  and
 9    operations  at Kaskaskia College (previously Centralia Junior
10    College) until his retirement in 1995; after  his  retirement
11    he  was  part-time  membership  development  director for the
12    Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce; he was a past chairman
13    of the Centralia Area United Fund; he had served as president
14    of the Centralia Jaycees, who honored Mr.  Kessler  with  the
15    Jaycees Outstanding Citizen Award; and
16        WHEREAS,  For  twenty years Dewey Kessler was a member of
17    the Chamber of Commerce, where he  served  as  president  and
18    ambassador;  he  was  chairman  of  the  Centralia Industrial
19    Commission; he was a member of  the  First  United  Methodist
20    Church, where he served as treasurer for several years; and
21        WHEREAS,  In  March  of  1998,  Mr.  Kessler  received  a
22    posthumous  tribute  from the Chamber of Commerce; his widow,
23    Jo, and their children, Kristen Holtkamp, Keith Kessler,  and
24    Kendall  Kessler accepted the award on his behalf; therefore,
25    be it
26        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
27    NINETIETH  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
28    congratulate the Centralia Historical Hall  of  Fame  on  its
29    choices for 1998 inductees; and be it further
30        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
31    presented to the Centralia Historical Hall of Fame.
