1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor The Chessmen Club of the
4 North Shore, Inc., for their work within the community; and
5 WHEREAS, The Chessmen Club of the North Shore was
6 established in 1958 by William Logan; it is a non-profit
7 organization organized for charitable purposes; The Chessmen
8 Club supports activities beneficial to youth and needy
9 families in the community; and
10 WHEREAS, The Chessmen Club has awarded scholarships and
11 book awards to needy and academically talented students who
12 attended North Shore schools; the Club has prepared and
13 distributed two hundred foodbaskets annually to the elderly
14 and less forunate people of the community; The Chessmen Club
15 has supported other charitable activities that improve the
16 quality of life for students, the elderly, and the needy; The
17 Chessmen Club works all the time to assist others; they show
18 their support of the community by their willingness to help
19 in times of need; and
20 WHEREAS, Membership in The Chessmen Club is by invitation
21 based on good character and demonstrated desire to serve the
22 community; The Chessmen Club works with financial support by
23 the members, local businesses, foundations, friends, and
24 neighbors; each year it is the hope of The Chessmen Club to
25 increase their giving to the community; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
28 thank The Chessmen Club of the North Shore for supporting,
29 volunteering, aiding, and caring about their community;
30 through their example, we can show others that people in
31 Illinois care about each other; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to The Chessmen Club of the North Shore, along with
3 our sincere appreciation.
