1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Nokomis Redskins on
4 winning the IHSA Girls Class A State Basketball Tournament at
5 the Redbird Arena in Peoria, Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, Nokomis, Illinois is a small town located in the
7 South-Central part of the State; the people of Nokomis and
8 the surrounding area gathered on the Sunday afternoon
9 following the tournament to welcome home the Lady Redskins;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, The Nokomis Redskins Team is made up of Lora
12 Ruppert, Molly McDowell, Ashlee Keller, Jane Spears, Amy
13 Prater, Rynne Hadley, Carrie Eisenbarth, Emily Heck, Rachelle
14 Detmers, Amy Braye, Jessie Hough, Crystal Hayes, Andrea
15 Probst, Bonnie Meiners, and Va'Nicia Waterman; and
16 WHEREAS, The 33-2 Redskins played the number one ranked
17 Carthage Bluegirls to win the State tournament; before
18 heading to the State tournament the Redskins had to beat
19 South Holland Seaton Academy in the quarter-final game; the
20 final score was 64-38 Nokomis and on to the semi-finals; and
21 WHEREAS, In the semi-final matchup Nokomis faced Sterling
22 Newman and won 68-47; it was on to the State tournament and a
23 chance to upset number one Carthage, and upset they did,
24 beating them 70-60; at the tournament Molly McDowell and
25 Carrie Eisenbarth were named to the First Team Associated
26 Press All-Tourney Picks and Jessie Hough was chosen for the
27 Second Team; with Coach Maury Hough leading them the Nokomis
28 Redskins proved that they had what it takes to make
29 champions; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1 congratulate the Nokomis Lady Redskins on winning the IHSA
2 Girls Class A State Tournament; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the Nokomis Lady Redskins.
