1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is pleased
3 to recognize significant milestones in the lives of the
4 people of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Robert
6 Mitchell Scott, born February 8, 1927, and Shirley Ann
7 Hutchins, born June 5, 1928, were married on January 11, 1947
8 and celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on January
9 11, 1997; and
10 WHEREAS, Robert and Shirley met after Robert joined the
11 Army Air Corps and was stationed in Madison, Wisconsin; and
12 WHEREAS, Robert and Shirley moved to and established a
13 home in Midlothian, Illinois where they raised their six
14 wonderful children: Michael Robert, Nancy Ann, Caryl Ellen,
15 Kenneth Allen, William Mitchell, and John Arthur; and
16 WHEREAS, Besides being devoted to their children and
17 outstanding members of their community, Robert owned two
18 successful dry cleaning businesses while Shirley worked at
19 St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, Illinois; Shirley
20 retired from St. Francis Hospital after nineteen years of
21 employment; and
22 WHEREAS, In 1979, Robert and Shirley relocated to
23 Lakeland, Florida where they reside today; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
26 congratulate Robert and Shirley Scott on their fifty-first
27 wedding anniversary and for their commendable and
28 extraordinary commitment to their family and to one another;
29 we extend our best wishes to Robert and Shirley and their
30 family, for continued happiness in their future; and be it
31 further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Robert and Shirley Scott as an expression of our
3 respect and esteem.
