1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sidney
4 Collins of East St. Louis, Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Sidney Collins was the owner of C&H Construction
6 Company; he was the father of city councilman Michael
7 Collins; Collins was an active part of East St. Louis,
8 helping fellow citizens as a community activist; Collins
9 worked with the minority contracting community, helping
10 others to become operators, truck drivers, and contractors;
11 and
12 WHEREAS, Sidney Collins started the Mobile Santa Claus
13 giveaway when East St. Louis needed help with snow and trash
14 removal; and
15 WHEREAS, Sidney Collins is survived by his wife,
16 Earnestine Collins; his sons, Leroy Collins, Kenneth Collins,
17 Michael Collins, and Gregory Collins; his daughters, Barbara
18 Ray, Naomi Purchase, and Lisa Collins; his brothers, Milton
19 P. Collins, and Alvin Jordan; his sisters, Winnie Coleman,
20 Marie Cole, Dora Farrell, Mary Louise Collins, Doris
21 Dilworth, and Janice Washington; as well as ten
22 grandchildren; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 send our sincere condolences to the family of Sidney Collins
26 of East St. Louis, Illinois; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to the family of Sidney Collins.
