1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Wednesday, May 7, 1997, marks National Tourism
3 Day; it has come to our attention that the Chicago Southland
4 Convention and Visitors Bureau is promoting the celebration
5 of the event; and
6 WHEREAS, Our State's excellent convention facilities and
7 numerous tourist sites within the South Suburbs extend
8 invitations to visitors from across the nation and foreign
9 countries; and
10 WHEREAS, The convention and tourism industry enhances the
11 economy and reputation of the Southland and the State and
12 brings increased employment; and
13 WHEREAS, The convention and tourist bureaus of the State
14 are committed to the promotion of tourism and are dedicated
15 to welcoming visitors to our State; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 join the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau in
19 the recognition of National Tourism Day and proclaim
20 Wednesday, May 7, 1997, as National Tourism Day in the State
21 of Illinois; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors
24 Bureau.
