      New Act
          Creates the State Employee Residency Act.  Requires  that
      full-time, compensated State officers and employees reside in
      Illinois.

 1        AN ACT requiring Illinois residency of State employees.
 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:
 4        Section 1.  Short title. This Act may  be  cited  as  the
 5    State Employee Residency Act.
 6        Section  5.   Definition.   As  used  in this Act, "State
 7    employee" means any officer or employee who  receives  salary
 8    or  wages for personal services rendered on a full-time basis
 9    to the State of Illinois.  "State employee" does not  include
10    contractual employees.
11        Section  10.   Residency required.  A State employee must
12    be a resident of Illinois.  Nothing in this Act  affects  the
13    requirement  of any other law or of the Illinois Constitution
14    that a State employee's residence be located within a certain
15    area of the State.
