1 AN ACT to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 by
2 changing Section 113-1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is
6 amended by changing Section 113-1 as follows:
7 (725 ILCS 5/113-1) (from Ch. 38, par. 113-1)
8 Sec. 113-1. Procedure on arraignment.
9 Before any person is tried for the commission of an
10 offense he or she shall be called into open court, informed
11 of the charge against him, and called upon to plead thereto.
12 If the defendant so requests the formal charge shall be read
13 to him before he is required to plead. An entry of the
14 arraignment shall be made of record.
