1 AN ACT to amend the Unified Code of Corrections by
2 changing Section 1-1-2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by
6 changing Section 1-1-2 as follows:
7 (730 ILCS 5/1-1-2) (from Ch. 38, par. 1001-1-2)
8 Sec. 1-1-2. Purposes.
9 The purposes of this Unified Code of Corrections are to:
10 (a) prescribe sanctions proportionate to the seriousness
11 of the offenses and permit the recognition of differences in
12 rehabilitation possibilities among individual offenders;
13 (b) forbid and prevent the commission of offenses;
14 (c) prevent arbitrary or oppressive treatment of persons
15 adjudicated offenders or delinquents; and
16 (d) restore offenders to useful citizenship.
