Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides that
transcripts of proceedings shall not be admissible in
evidence unless they have been certified by a Certified
Shorthand Reporter. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Code of Civil Procedure by adding
2 Section 8-1202.5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
6 adding Section 8-1202.5 as follows:
7 (735 ILCS 5/8-1202.5 new)
8 Sec. 8-1202.5. Transcripts. No transcript or part of a
9 transcript of proceedings, including a manual or electronic
10 transcript of Grand Jury proceedings, court proceedings,
11 court related proceedings, pretrial examinations,
12 depositions, motions or related proceedings of like
13 character, or proceedings of an administrative agency when
14 the final decision of the agency is likely to be subject to
15 judicial review under the Administrative Review Law, shall be
16 admissible in evidence unless the transcript bears the name
17 and license or restricted license number of the Certified
18 Shorthand Reporter recording the proceedings.
19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20 becoming law.
