Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

5 ILCS 490/50

    Sec. 50. Gold Star Days.
    (a) The Governor shall annually designate by official proclamation the last Sunday in September as Gold Star Mothers' Day to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor and commemorate the mothers of men and women who gave their lives while serving with the armed forces of the United States in time of war or during a period of hostilities.
    (b) The Governor shall annually designate by official proclamation the day before Gold Star Mothers' Day as Gold Star Family Day to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor and commemorate the families of men and women who gave their lives while serving with the armed forces of the United States in time of war or during a period of hostilities.
