Sec. 5. Definitions. The following terms have the meanings indicated, unless the context requires otherwise: "Authorizing agent" means a person who is legally entitled to authorize the cremation and final disposition of the cremated remains of the deceased person in accordance with the Disposition of Remains Act and the Crematory Regulation Act. "Crematory authority" means a legal entity that is licensed by the Comptroller of the State of Illinois to operate a crematory and to perform cremations. "Funeral director" means a person, known by the title of "funeral director" or other similar words or titles, licensed under the Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing Code and who practices funeral directing. "Veteran" means an Illinois resident who has served as a member of the United States Armed Services on active duty, a member of the Illinois National Guard, or a member of the United States Reserve Forces, and who has received an honorable discharge. "Veterans organization" means an association or other entity organized for the benefits of veterans that has been recognized or chartered by the United States Congress and includes, but is not limited to, the American Legion, the Legion of Honor, the Patriot Guard, the Missing in America Project, and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
