SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Illinois Route 128 is a State highway that runs
3from Highway 29 near Shelbyville to Highway 40 near Altamont;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cowden Police Officer Jeremy Hubbard, of
6Effingham, was killed in the line of duty on August, 10, 2010;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, He graduated from Effingham High School in 1993
9and joined the Cowden Police Department in 2007; he completed
10his basic training with the Police Training Institute in
11Mattoon in 2008, and joined the Effingham County Sheriffs
12Department in 2010; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He received many commendations and was highly
14regarded by co-workers, community members, and the village
15administration; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Cowden Police Officer Jeremy Hubbard is
17remembered by his wife, Trisha Hubbard; his sons, Dylan and
18Jordan; his sister, Julia Poulter; and a grateful community;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, This fallen officer deserves to be remembered by

1the State of Illinois for his service and sacrifice; therefore,
2be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
5CONCURRING HEREIN, that the portion of Illinois Route 128
6through the village limits of Cowden be renamed the Officer
7Jeremy Hubbard Memorial Highway; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
9is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
10State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
11giving notice of the name of the Officer Jeremy Hubbard
12Memorial Highway; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the
15Policemen's Benevolent & Protective Association of Illinois,
16and the family of Officer Jeremy Hubbard.
