| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Donald J. Malloy of Varna, formerly of | 4 |
| Bolingbrook, who passed away on July 19, 2008; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Donald J. Malloy was born on December 21, 1950 in | 6 |
| Rochester, New York; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Donald J. Malloy was a graduate of Purdue | 8 |
| University and was employed at Argonne National Laboratories, | 9 |
| supervising Argonne's Applied Physics Department and its $20 | 10 |
| million budget; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Donald J. Malloy had a long and distinguished | 12 |
| career in law enforcement; he began his career in 1983 as a | 13 |
| reserve officer for the Bolingbrook Police Department; he | 14 |
| became a full-time officer in 1987; he quickly rose through the | 15 |
| ranks, becoming sergeant in 1999 and lieutenant in 2002; in | 16 |
| 2003, he was promoted once more to the position of assistant | 17 |
| police chief, serving there until his retirement in August of | 18 |
| 2007; and

| WHEREAS, Donald J. Malloy was an avid Boilermaker fan who | 20 |
| had a running friendly feud with other officers over college | 21 |
| athletics, particularly football; and
|

| WHEREAS, Donald J. Malloy is survived by his wife, Brenda | 2 |
| (McQuaig); his son, Derek Malloy; his daughter, Kim (husband, | 3 |
| Kevin) Lowell; his grandchildren, Ryan Lowell, Matthew Lowell, | 4 |
| and Corinne Pavlik; his sister, Sharon Malloy; his brothers, | 5 |
| Richard (wife, Marilyn) Malloy and James Malloy; his | 6 |
| sisters-in-law, Debra (husband, Bill) Buttaggi, Marla | 7 |
| (husband, Dale) Smith, and Nora McQuaig; his parents-in-law, | 8 |
| Fran and Virginia McQuaig; and his several nieces and nephews; | 9 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 11 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 12 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Donald J. Malloy; and be | 13 |
| it further
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 |
| presented to the family of Donald J. Malloy as an expression of | 16 |
| our sympathy.
