| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Anthony Toussaint, who passed away on | 4 | | June 20, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint was born in London, England to | 6 | | Elizabeth and Allan Toussaint on October 25, 1960; at an early | 7 | | age, he demonstrated his love for learning by always reading | 8 | | and writing and learning something new; he challenged | 9 | | everything he did not believe to be true or right and was | 10 | | forward thinking, always looking for the next move; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry | 12 | | from the University of Leicester; he then earned a M.Sc. in | 13 | | Surface Chemistry and Colloids from the University of Bristol | 14 | | and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University College | 15 | | London; he completed postdoctoral work at the State University | 16 | | of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry with | 17 | | Dr. Philip Luner, which was followed by an MBA from the | 18 | | Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint worked for The Sherwin Williams | 20 | | Company in both Chicago and Cleveland, Sandoz Agro Inc. in Des | 21 | | Plaines, DSM Desotech/DSM Functional Materials in Elgin, St. | 22 | | Sabina Employment Resource Center in Chicago, and East-West |

| 1 | | University in Chicago; he held the position of co-director of a | 2 | | summer jobs program at the St. Sabina Employment Resource | 3 | | Center, where he hired mentors, worked with employers, and | 4 | | placed 15 to 24 year old individuals in summer jobs; at the | 5 | | time of his passing, he was the Manager of R&D/Technical | 6 | | Services at ICL Specialty Products in Hammond, Indiana and the | 7 | | 2018 ACS Chair of the Chicago Section; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint served young adults with | 9 | | disabilities as a member of the Board of Directors for The | 10 | | Bradley Cameron Association; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint enjoyed playing golf and | 12 | | mentoring young people in the community; he also enjoyed | 13 | | listening to music, especially Gospel, Reggae, and R&B; he ran | 14 | | the Chicago Marathon in 2009 and 2010; he loved his family, | 15 | | especially the frequent talks he had with his mother and Aunt | 16 | | Sonia, who was like a second mother to him; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint is survived by his mother, | 18 | | Elizabeth; his brothers; his aunts, his uncles; his nieces and | 19 | | nephews; his many friends; his work associates; and the | 20 | | Community of Saint Sabina; therefore, be it
| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 22 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
