2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joan Iva Willaredt of Edwardsville, who |
4 | | passed away on October 13, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joan Willaredt was born in her family home near |
6 | | St. Jacob to Oliver and Mayme (Liebler) Thurnau on November 10, |
7 | | 1932; she graduated from Highland High School in 1950 and |
8 | | married George Willaredt at St. John E & R Church in Granite |
9 | | City on November 12, 1955; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, After living on a farm in Granite City for the |
11 | | first four years of their marriage, Joan Willaredt and her |
12 | | husband moved to the Edwardsville area, where they operated a |
13 | | vegetable, grain, and horseradish farm; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Joan Willaredt was an active member of Eden |
15 | | Church; she bowled in leagues and was involved in the Farm |
16 | | Bureau Women's Committee; she enjoyed traveling across the |
17 | | United States and abroad, visiting with family and friends, and |
18 | | playing cards; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Joan Willaredt was preceded in death by her |
20 | | siblings, Harold (Laurine) Thurnau, Lyla (Dale) Gerstenecker, |
21 | | Jeanette (Louis) Taylor, and Cliff Thurnau; and her brothers- |

4 | | WHEREAS, Joan Willaredt is survived by her husband, George; |
5 | | her daughters, Pam (Fred) Heepke, Nancy (Jerry) Kruckeberg, and |
6 | | Jill (Kerry) Bertels; her grandchildren and |
7 | | great-grandchildren, Jeff (Marcy) Heepke and children, Grace |
8 | | and Emma, Dennis (Molly) Heepke and children, Lucy and Henry, |
9 | | Ross Heepke, Brad Kruckeberg, Tim (Gracie) Kruckeberg, Eric |
10 | | (Nichole) Bertels and children, Samantha, Stephanie, and |
11 | | Sophia, Kurt (Karen) Bertels and son, Brennan, and Mark |
12 | | Bertels; her sisters, Olive Nungesser and Eleanor Pirok; her |
13 | | brothers, Warren Thurnau and Robert (Dorothy) Thurnau; and her |
14 | | sisters-in-law, Betty Thurnau, Wilma Willaredt, Doris Keller, |
15 | | and Darlene (Joe) Schroeder; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | Joan Iva Willaredt, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
19 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
20 | | further

21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
22 | | presented to the family of Joan Willaredt as an expression of |
23 | | our deepest sympathy.
