| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Bernice Jane "Bunny" Gora of Crystal | 4 | | Lake, who passed away on September 3, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Gora was born in Chicago to Thomas Beatty | 6 | | and Grace Schultz on August 29, 1929; she married John R. Gora | 7 | | in Chicago in November 1955, and they later divorced; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Gora worked as a telephone switchboard | 9 | | operator at Passion Construction Company; after moving to | 10 | | Crystal Lake, she opened Bunny's Ceramic Studio in her | 11 | | basement; she taught ceramics for over 40 years; in addition to | 12 | | teaching ceramics, she also held many other jobs, including | 13 | | house cleaner, waitress, and cook, until she joined Illinois | 14 | | Bell Telephone Company as a repair operator, from which she | 15 | | retired in 1989; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Gora was a member of the Church of Jesus | 17 | | Christ of Latter-day Saints, Crystal Lake; she volunteered for | 18 | | many organizations, including Illinois Children's Home and Aid | 19 | | Society, McHenry County Multiple Sclerosis Society, Project | 20 | | Linus, and the McHenry County Senior Services Association in | 21 | | Crystal Lake; she enjoyed ceramics, gardening, knitting, and | 22 | | crocheting blankets; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Gora was preceded in death by her parents; | 2 | | and her sister, Patricia Roderick; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Bernice Gora is survived by her daughters, Kitty | 4 | | (Colin) Comer, Judy Sopala, and Cindy (Tom) Hayden; her | 5 | | grandsons, Thomas Spence and Luke Hayden; her niece, Patricia | 6 | | Roderick; her nephew, Michael Roderick; and many lifelong | 7 | | friends; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Bernice Jane "Bunny" Gora, and extend our sincere condolences | 11 | | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | 12 | | it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Bernice Gora as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
