SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lynn K. Smith of McHenry, who passed away
4on June 23, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lynn Smith graduated from Barrington High School;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Lynn Smith began working at IBM in 1997 and became
8a skilled and highly regarded project manager; in 2002, she
9earned her Master of Project Management from the George
10Washington University School of Business; in 2011, she joined
11the Follett Corporation in their FSS division; she quickly
12became the director of Follett's Project Management Office,
13working directly with the president and his executive strategy
14team; one year into her tenure at Follett, she was awarded the
15prestigious Follett Values award for accountability; and
 
16    WHEREAS, In 2003, Lynn Smith met Al Janus at a party in
17Cary and they have been together ever since; they have enjoyed
18living along the Fox River waterfront together; she loved her
19"adopted kids", Annie and Cougar; she was an avid boater and
20enjoyed being out on the water or relaxing at the beach; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Lynn Smith was preceded in death by her father,

1Henry D. Smith, and her sister, Karin Seiler (Ed); and
 
2    WHEREAS, Lynn Smith is survived by her mother, Kathleen
3Smith; her siblings, Michael Smith (Lynn), Dawn Huffman (Bill),
4and Robin Smith; an uncle; many cousins, nieces, and nephews;
5and her longtime partner, Al Janus and his family; therefore,
6be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Lynn K. Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Lynn Smith as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
