AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 662

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 662 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5changing Section 3-805 and by adding Sections 1-117.8 and
61-159.4 as follows:
 
7    (625 ILCS 5/1-117.8 new)
8    Sec. 1-117.8. Electric motor vehicle. A motor vehicle of
9the first division or a motor vehicle of the second division
10weighing 8,000 pounds or less propelled by an electric engine
11and does not utilize motor fuel.
 
12    (625 ILCS 5/1-159.4 new)
13    Sec. 1-159.4. Plug-in hybrid electric motor vehicle. A
14motor vehicle of the first division or a motor vehicle of the
15second division weighing 8,000 pounds or less that operates on

1electric and gasoline, and has a battery that can be recharged
2from an external source.
 
3    (625 ILCS 5/3-805)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-805)
4    Sec. 3-805. Electric motor vehicles and plug-in hybrid
5electric motor vehicles.
6    (a) Beginning with registration year 2018, the The owner of
7an electric motor vehicle shall a motor vehicle of the first
8division or a motor vehicle of the second division weighing
98,000 pounds or less propelled by an electric engine and not
10utilizing motor fuel, may register such vehicle for a fee not
11to exceed of $216.00 for a one-year $35 for a 2-year
12registration period. The Secretary may, in his discretion,
13prescribe that electric motor vehicle registration plates be
14issued for an indefinite term, such term to correspond to the
15term of registration plates issued generally, as provided in
16Section 3-414.1. In no event may the registration fee for
17electric vehicles exceed $18 per registration year.
18    (b) Beginning with registration year 2019, the owner of a
19plug-in hybrid electric motor vehicle shall register the
20vehicle for a fee of $158.00 for a one-year registration
21period. The Secretary may, in his or her discretion, issue to
22the owner of a plug-in hybrid electric motor vehicle any
23registration plate under Article IV or Article VI of this
24Chapter.
25    (c) Of the money collected for each registration under this

1Section:
2        (1) $1 shall be deposited into the State Police Vehicle
3    Fund;
4        (2) $2 shall be deposited into the Park and
5    Conservation Fund;
6        (3) $20 shall be deposited into the Capital Projects
7    Fund; and
8        (4) of the remaining money collected, 63% shall be
9    deposited into the Road Fund and 37% shall be deposited
10    into the State Construction Account Fund.
