AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 403

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 403 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5changing Section 7f as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/7f)  (from Ch. 144, par. 28f)
7    Sec. 7f. Partial tuition waivers.
8    (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or
9university" means any of the following: the University of
10Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State
11University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State
12University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois
13University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois
14University.
15    (b) Each year the Board of Trustees of the University of
16Illinois shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate

1education at any campus under its governance or supervision to
2the children of employees of an Illinois college or university
3who have been employed by any one or by more than one Illinois
4college or university for an aggregate period of at least 7
5years. However, no waivers may be offered under this Section to
6students enrolled at the University of Illinois after the
72015-2016 academic year, although renewals shall be permitted
8under subsection (c) of this Section. To be eligible to receive
9a partial tuition waiver, the child of an employee of an
10Illinois college or university (i) must be under the age of 25
11at the commencement of the academic year during which the
12partial tuition waiver is to be effective, and (ii) must
13qualify for admission to the University of Illinois under the
14same admissions requirements, standards and policies which the
15University of Illinois applies to applicants for admission
16generally to its respective undergraduate colleges and
17programs.
18    (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
19(b), an eligible applicant who has continued to maintain
20satisfactory academic progress toward graduation may have his
21or her partial tuition waiver renewed until the time as he or
22she has expended 4 years of undergraduate partial tuition
23waiver benefits under this Section.
24    (d) No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated to any
25eligible applicant in accordance with the provisions of this
26Section shall be charged against any tuition waiver limitation

1established by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
2    (e) The Board of Trustees shall prescribe rules and
3regulations as are necessary to implement and administer the
4provisions of this Section.

6    Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
7Act is amended by changing Section 8f as follows:

13offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education at any
14campus under its governance to the children of employees of an
15Illinois college or university who have been employed by any
16one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an
17aggregate period of at least 7 years. However, no waivers may
18be offered under this Section to students enrolled at Chicago
19State University after the 2015-2016 academic year, although
20renewals shall be permitted under subsection (c) of this
21Section. To be eligible to receive a partial tuition waiver,
22the child of an employee of an Illinois college or university
23(i) must be under the age of 25 at the commencement of the
24academic year during which the partial tuition waiver is to be

12be offered under this Section to students enrolled at Eastern
13Illinois University after the 2015-2016 academic year,
14although renewals shall be permitted under subsection (c) of
15this Section. To be eligible to receive a partial tuition
16waiver, the child of an employee of an Illinois college or
17university (i) must be under the age of 25 at the commencement
18of the academic year during which the partial tuition waiver is
19to be effective, and (ii) must qualify for admission to Eastern
20Illinois University under the same admissions requirements,
21standards and policies which Eastern Illinois University
22applies to applicants for admission generally to its respective
23undergraduate colleges and programs.
24    (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
25(b), an eligible applicant who has continued to maintain

13by changing Section 15-90 as follows:

11Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State
12University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State
13University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois
14University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois
15University.
16    (b) Each year the Board of Illinois State University shall
17offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education at any
18campus under its governance to the children of employees of an
19Illinois college or university who have been employed by any
20one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an

16be offered under this Section to students enrolled at
17Northeastern Illinois University after the 2015-2016 academic
18year, although renewals shall be permitted under subsection (c)

20waiver, the child of an employee of an Illinois college or
21university (i) must be under the age of 25 at the commencement
22of the academic year during which the partial tuition waiver is

12by changing Section 35-90 as follows:

15    (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or
16university" means any of the following: the University of
17Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State
18University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State
19University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois
20University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois
21University.
22    (b) Each year the Board of Western Illinois University
23shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education at
24any campus under its governance to the children of employees of

2one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an
