AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2245

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2245 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5adding Section 85 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/85 new)
7    Sec. 85. Priority enrollment; service member or veteran.
8    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
9    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
10member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
11reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
12District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
13United States.
14    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
15member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
16discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.

1    (b) The Board of Trustees shall give the earliest possible
2enrollment opportunity that the University offers to a service
3member or veteran.
4    (c) A former service member who received a dishonorable
5discharge or a bad conduct discharge is not eligible for
6priority enrollment pursuant to this Section.
7    (d) The priority enrollment provided pursuant to this
8Section shall apply to enrollment for all degree and
9certificate programs offered by the University after the
10military or veteran status of the student has been verified by
11the University.
 
12    Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
13Act is amended by adding Section 70 as follows:
 
14    (110 ILCS 520/70 new)
15    Sec. 70. Priority enrollment; service member or veteran.
16    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
17    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
18member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
19reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
20District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
21United States.
22    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service
23member and who has received an honorable discharge, a general
24discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.

1    (b) The Board shall give the earliest possible enrollment
2opportunity that the University offers to a service member or
3veteran.
4    (c) A former service member who received a dishonorable
5discharge or a bad conduct discharge is not eligible for

8Section shall apply to enrollment for all degree and
9certificate programs offered by the University after the
10military or veteran status of the student has been verified by
11the University.
 
12    Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by
13adding Section 5-180 as follows:
 
14    (110 ILCS 660/5-180 new)
15    Sec. 5-180. Priority enrollment; service member or
16veteran.
17    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
18    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
19member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
20reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
21District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
22United States.
23    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service

17veteran.
18    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
19    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a
20member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
21reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
22District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the
23United States.
24    "Veteran" means a resident of this State who was a service

21member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
22reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
23District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the

22member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
23reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the

23member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any

20    Sec. 30-190. Priority enrollment; service member or
21veteran.
22    (a) For the purposes of this Section:
23    "Service member" means a resident of this State who is a

23    (a) For the purposes of this Section:

20adding Section 3-29.10 as follows:

22    Sec. 3-29.10. Priority enrollment; service member or
23veteran.
24    (a) For the purposes of this Section:

2member of any component of the U.S. Armed Forces, including any
3reserve component, or the National Guard of any state, the
4District of Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the

8discharge, or an other than honorable discharge.
9    (b) A board shall give the earliest possible enrollment
10opportunity that a community college offers to a service member
11or veteran.
12    (c) A former service member who received a dishonorable
13discharge or a bad conduct discharge is not eligible for
14priority enrollment pursuant to this Section.
15    (d) The priority enrollment provided pursuant to this
16Section shall apply to enrollment for all degree and
17certificate programs offered by a community college after the
18military or veteran status of the student has been verified by
19the community college.".
