| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kathy Bovid on the | 4 | | occasion of her early retirement as Associate Director of State | 5 | | Government Affairs at Bristol-Myers Squibb; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Bovid is the Associate Director of State | 7 | | Government Affairs at Bristol-Myers Squibb, one of the nation's | 8 | | leading BioPhRMA companies; she has worked there for nearly 29 | 9 | | years, beginning in 1985; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Bovid has worked tirelessly with state | 11 | | government health program administrators, managed care plans, | 12 | | legislators, and advocacy organizations to promote disease | 13 | | awareness and help improve access to appropriate treatment for | 14 | | patients with serious mental health illnesses, cancer, | 15 | | HIV/AIDS, diabetes, heart disease, and hepatitis, among | 16 | | others; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Bovid has been a passionate and instrumental | 18 | | resource for the General Assembly as a lobbyist on a multitude | 19 | | of complex healthcare issues, bringing a wealth of expertise | 20 | | from her prior service in posts ranging from Senior Region | 21 | | Director of State Government Operations to State Government | 22 | | Sales Associate, where she began her work with state |

| 1 | | governments; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Bovid earned her Master's of Business | 3 | | Administration degree from the University of Michigan while | 4 | | working as a microbiologist at University Hospital in Michigan; | 5 | | she also attained certification as a Medical Technologist by | 6 | | the American Society of Clinical Pathology from William | 7 | | Beaumont School of Medical Technology and earned a Bachelor of | 8 | | Arts degree from Oakland University; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, After graduating in 1985, Kathy Bovid accepted a | 10 | | sales position with Bristol-Myers Squibb in the State of | 11 | | Michigan; after 3 years there, she relocated to Chicago to | 12 | | accept a promotion and assist in the creation of a new | 13 | | department to improve access to pharmaceuticals for patients | 14 | | with serious diseases; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Kathy Bovid was born and raised in Michigan, while | 16 | | her father was born in Illinois; her Lithuanian and Swedish | 17 | | immigrant grandparents all lived and worked in Chicago in their | 18 | | early adult years; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, While Kathy Bovid is taking early retirement from | 20 | | her responsibilities at Bristol-Myers Squibb, she will remain | 21 | | active in a variety of healthcare causes and personal pursuits, | 22 | | both professional and as a volunteer in her Chicago Lakeview |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 3 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 4 | | we congratulate Kathy Bovid on her remarkable 29 year career in | 5 | | healthcare, including most recently as Associate Director of | 6 | | State Government Affairs at Bristol-Myers Squibb; and be it | 7 | | further
