SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles L. Miner of Naperville, who
4passed away on February 1, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born July 6, 1928 in Shelbyville, the son
6of the late Lester and Thirza Miner; he grew up in Chicago,
7attended Morgan Park High School, and was a graduate of the
8University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army during the
10Korean War, serving in a counterintelligence unit at the
11University of Chicago; he was manager at Industrial Oil &
12Chemical Company in Rockford for 23 years and worked his last
1320 years in the insurance industry for National Benefit Brokers
14before retiring; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He loved books and was an active member and
16officer in the Caxton Club, Chicago's oldest society for book
17lovers and collectors; his interests also included horses; he
18served as a riding instructor at The Midway Academy in the
191950s; he was an active member at The DuPage Center for
20Spiritual Living; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Charles Miner was the beloved husband of Jean (nee

1Showers) Miner, whom he married June 30, 1979; he was the
2loving father of William (Pam) Miner and Nancy (David) Nilsen;
3he was the cherished grandfather of David (Ashley), Andrew
4(Amy), Matthew and Sarah Miner; he was the fond
5great-grandfather of Cameron Miner; he was the dear brother of
6Thomas (Lucyna) Miner and Ruth McDade; and he was the fond
7uncle of Robert Miner, William Miner, Diane McDade, and Grace
8(Bob) Babikian; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of Charles Miner; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Charles Miner as a symbol of our
15sincere sympathy.
