1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 1. Findings. There is currently a lack of
5information available to State and local government officials
6and the public at large regarding the number and type of
7traffic violations involving taxis. By imposing a duty upon
8circuit court clerks to compile this information, governments
9can take further steps to ensure the safety of our streets for
10both pedestrians and drivers.
 
11    Section 5. The Taxi Safety Act of 2007 is amended by adding
12Section 15 as follows:
 
13    (625 ILCS 55/15 new)
14    Sec. 15. Taxi safety reporting. Upon the request of a unit
15of government that licenses, registers, or otherwise regulates
16taxi drivers, the clerk of the circuit court in which the unit
17of government is situated shall furnish a list of all moving
18violations involving a vehicle with a taxi registration plate
19issued by the Secretary of State under Section 3-412 of the
20Illinois Vehicle Code. In its request, the unit of government
21shall indicate the time period for which it seeks the
22information. The list furnished to the unit of government shall

1indicate the name of the defendant, the associated taxi
2registration plate number, the type of violation or alleged
3violation, and the disposition or status of each case. The list
4shall be accompanied by a report with a percentage breakdown of
5the total number of cases for which there was a plea of guilty
6or a finding of guilt and the total number of cases that were
7voluntarily dismissed for want of prosecution. The clerk of the
8circuit court may not generate a list under this Section for
9any individual or entity other than a unit of government that
10licenses, registers, or otherwise regulates taxi drivers.
