AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 865

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 865 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Cellular Phone Use and Automobile Accidents Reporting Act.

Section 5. Police reports to include information on cell phone use as cause of accident. State, county, and municipal law enforcement personnel shall include in their police reports of automobile accidents information pertaining to whether an accident involved the use of a cellular phone.

Section 10. Department of Transportation to report to General Assembly. The Department of Transportation shall request from State, county, and municipal law enforcement agencies statistics on the use of cellular phones leading to automobile accidents over a two-year period beginning January 1, 2013 and ending December 31, 2014, and report the findings to the General Assembly no later than October 1, 2015.".
