1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3222
2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3222, AS AMENDED,
3 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4 following:

5     "Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
6 changing Section 25 as follows:

7     (110 ILCS 305/25)
8     Sec. 25. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section
9 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
10 2003-2004 academic year. For 4 continuous academic years
11 following initial enrollment (or for undergraduate programs
12 that require more than 4 years to complete, for the normal time
13 to complete the program, as determined by the University), the
14 tuition charged an undergraduate student who is an Illinois
15 resident shall not exceed the amount that the student was
16 charged at the time he or she first enrolled in the University.

1 However, if the student changes majors during this time period,
2 the tuition charged the student shall equal the amount the
3 student would have been charged had he or she been admitted to
4 the changed major when he or she first enrolled.An
5 undergraduate student who is an Illinois resident and who has
6 for 4 continuous academic years been charged no more than the
7 tuition amount that he or she was charged at the time he or she
8 first enrolled in the University shall be charged tuition not
9 to exceed the amount the University charged students who first
10 enrolled in the University for the academic year following the
11 academic year the student first enrolled in the University for
12 a maximum of 2 additional continuous academic years.

14     Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
15 Act is amended by changing Section 15 as follows:

17     Sec. 15. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section
18 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
19 2003-2004 academic year. For 4 continuous academic years
20 following initial enrollment (or for undergraduate programs
21 that require more than 4 years to complete, for the normal time
22 to complete the program, as determined by the University), the
23 tuition charged an undergraduate student who is an Illinois
24 resident shall not exceed the amount that the student was

15     Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by
16 changing Section 5-120 as follows:

17     (110 ILCS 660/5-120)
18     Sec. 5-120. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section
19 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
20 2003-2004 academic year. For 4 continuous academic years
21 following initial enrollment (or for undergraduate programs
22 that require more than 4 years to complete, for the normal time
23 to complete the program, as determined by the University), the
24 tuition charged an undergraduate student who is an Illinois

16     Section 20. The Eastern Illinois University Law is amended
17 by changing Section 10-120 as follows:

19     Sec. 10-120. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section
20 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
21 2003-2004 academic year. For 4 continuous academic years
22 following initial enrollment (or for undergraduate programs
23 that require more than 4 years to complete, for the normal time

2 following initial enrollment (or for undergraduate programs
3 that require more than 4 years to complete, for the normal time

6 resident shall not exceed the amount that the student was
7 charged at the time he or she first enrolled in the University.
8 However, if the student changes majors during this time period,

21     Section 45. The Western Illinois University Law is amended
22 by changing Section 35-125 as follows:

24     Sec. 35-125. Limitation on tuition increase. This Section

1 applies only to those students who first enroll after the
2 2003-2004 academic year. For 4 continuous academic years

22     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
