1     AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5 Sections 4-14.1, 5-9.1, and 6-62 as follows:
 
6     (10 ILCS 5/4-14.1)  (from Ch. 46, par. 4-14.1)
7     Sec. 4-14.1. Cancelation of deceased voter's registration.
8 Upon establishment of an electronic reporting system for death
9 registrations as provided in the Vital Records Act, the county
10 clerk of the county where a decedent last resided, as indicated
11 on the decedent's death certificate, may issue certifications
12 of death records from that system and may use that system to
13 cancel the registration of any person who has died during the
14 preceding month. Regardless of whether or not such a system has
15 been established, it It is the duty of the county clerk to
16 examine, monthly, the records deposited in his or her office
17 pursuant to the Vital Records Act that relate to deaths in the
18 county, and to cancel the registration of any person who has
19 died during the preceding month.

13 deaths in the county, to cancel the registration of any person
14 who has died during the preceding month, and to cause the name
15 of each such deceased person to be erased from the register of
16 the precinct in which the deceased person was registered.

19     Sec. 6-62. It shall be the duty of the person or officer
20 having charge of the vital records of a city, village or
21 incorporated town to furnish to the board of election
22 commissioners, monthly, a report of the names and previous
23 residences of all persons over 18 21 years of age that have
24 died during the preceding month.
