AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2507

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2507 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing Section 11-1401 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/11-1401) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1401)

Sec. 11-1401. Unattended motor vehicles.

(a) No person driving or in charge of a motor vehicle shall permit it to stand unattended without first stopping the engine, locking the ignition, removing the key from the ignition, effectively setting the brake thereon and, when standing upon any perceptible grade, turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the highway.

(b) Stopping the engine of an unattended motor vehicle is not required if the engine has been started by a remote car starter.
