SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois 
3
were saddened to learn of the passing of Kelly Nelson on March 
4
11, 2004; and
 
5
    WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson is the fourth of eight children of 
6
John and Maribeth Nelson and was born on December 25, 1989 in 
7
Chicago; and
 
8
    WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson gave her life to the Lord at an early 
9
age and was an active member of St. Denis Catholic Church where 
10
she was a member of the children's choir; and
 
11
    WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson attended St. Denis School from 
12
pre-school to fourth grade and transferred to Owen Scholastic 
13
Academy in fifth grade; and
 
14
    WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson was actively involved in school 
15
activities including volleyball, softball, and basketball; as 
16
a member of the St. Denis basketball team, she won the 
17
Southwest Catholic Conference Championship; and
 
18
    WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson had a super personality and got along 
19
well with everyone; she had her own unique style and a very 
20
creative/active imagination, including her own made-up 
21
language; and
 
22
    WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson was an avid fan of the arts and was 
23
interested in all aspects of music; she loved cartoons as well, 
24
her favorite characters being Spongebob and Eeyore; and
 
25
    

WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson was also an active member in Girl 
26
Scouts and still attended meetings with her mom; and

    WHEREAS, Kelly Nelson's passing will be deeply felt by many

especially her parents, John and Maribeth Nelson; her siblings, 
2
Andrew, Samantha, Christine, Melissa, Jennifer, Matthew, and 
3
Tommy; her grandparents, Willard and Margaret Nelson and 
4
Bernard and Janet Smith; her great-grandmothers, Josephine 
5
Wedster and Gwen Smith; and her many uncles, aunts, cousins, 
6
and friends; therefore be it
 
7
    RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY 
8
OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Kelly 
9
Nelson along with all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to the family of Kelly Nelson as an expression of our 
12
sorrow for their loss.
