1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Robert M.
4 Walker of Peoria on June 11, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Walker was born on January 19, 1929 in
6 Peoria to Benjamin M. and Idabelle Watson Walker; he married
7 Freddie M. Brackins in 1954 in Greenville, Mississippi; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Walker was a United States Army Veteran; he
9 and his father owned Walker's Catering in Peoria for 42
10 years; he was also a Peoria police officer for 21 years and
11 later was chief security officer at Illinois Central College
12 in East Peoria for 18 years; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Walker was a member of the City of Peoria
14 Retirees Association, the Peoria Police Benevolent
15 Association, and the Illinois Police Association; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Walker was also a member of St. Peter's
17 Catholic Church in Peoria; and
18 WHEREAS, The passing of Robert M. Walker has been deeply
19 felt by many, especially his wife, Freddie Walker; his sons,
20 Thomas (Patience) Smith and Robert Walker II; his daughter,
21 Georgia Walker-Helms; his sisters, Melanie Anderson and
22 Theresa Tatum; his eight grandchildren; and his three
23 great-grandchildren; and
24 WHEREAS, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his
25 daughter, Carolyn Walker; and one brother; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
28 of Robert M. Walker along with all who knew and loved him and
29 extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
30 be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Robert M. Walker as an expression
3 of our deepest sympathy.
