 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 408

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 408  by  replacing
 3    all  of  page  4  and  lines  1  through 9 on page 5 with the
 4    following:
 5        "The board, through the budget  process,  shall  fix  the
 6    compensation  of  all  the  officers  and  employees  of  the
 7    sanitary  district.  Any incumbent of the office of president
 8    may appoint an administrative aide which appointment  remains
 9    in   force  during  his  incumbency  unless  revoked  by  the
10    president.
11        Effective upon the  election  in  January,  1985  of  the
12    president  and  vice-president  of the board of commissioners
13    and the chairman of the  committee  on  finance,  the  annual
14    salary  of  the  president  shall  be  $37,500  and  shall be
15    increased to $39,500 in January, 1987,  $41,500  in  January,
16    1989, $50,000 in January, 1991, and $60,000 in January, 2001,
17    and  $66,000  in  January,  2005;  the  annual  salary of the
18    vice-president shall be $35,000 and  shall  be  increased  to
19    $37,000  in  January, 1987, $39,000 in January, 1989, $45,000
20    in January, 1991, and $55,000 in January, 2001,  and  $60,500
21    in  January,  2005; the annual salary  of the chairman of the
22    committee on finance shall be $32,500 and shall be  increased
23    to  $34,500  in  January,  1987,  $36,500  in  January, 1989,
24    $45,000 in January, 1991, and $55,000 in January,  2001,  and

 1    $60,500 in January, 2005.
 2        The  annual  salaries  of  the other members of the Board
 3    shall be as follows:
 4        For the three members elected in November, 1980,  $26,500
 5    per  annum  for  the first two years of the term; $28,000 per
 6    annum for the next two years of  the  term  and  $30,000  per
 7    annum for the last two years.
 8        For  the three members elected in November, 1982, $28,000
 9    per annum for the first two years of the term and $30,000 per
10    annum thereafter.
11        For members elected in November, 1984, $30,000 per annum.
12        For the three members elected in November, 1986,  $32,000
13    for each of the first two years of the term, $34,000 for each
14    of the next two years and $36,000 for the last two years;
15        For  three members elected in November, 1988, $34,000 for
16    each of the first two years of the term and $36,000 for  each
17    year thereafter.
18        For  members elected in November, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996,
19    or 1998, $40,000.
20        For  members  elected  in   November,   2000   and   2002
21    thereafter, $50,000.
22        For  members  elected  in  November, 2004 and thereafter,
23    $55,000.".
