 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 371

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill  371  on  page  2,
 3    after line 11, by inserting the following:
 4        ""Mercury-added  novelty  product"  means a mercury-added
 5    product  intended  for  personal  or   household   enjoyment,
 6    including,  but  not limited to, toys, figurines, adornments,
 7    games, cards, ornaments, yard statues and figurines, candles,
 8    jewelry, holiday decorations, and footwear and other items of
 9    apparel."; and

10    on page 3, after line 11, by inserting the following:

11        "Section 25.  Sale, distribution, or promotional gifts of
12    mercury-added novelty products prohibited.  On and after July
13    1, 2004, no mercury-added novelty products may be offered for
14    sale or distributed for promotional purposes in  Illinois  if
15    the  offerer  or distributor knows or has reason to know that
16    the product contains mercury, unless the  mercury  is  solely
17    within a button-cell battery."; and

18    on page 3, line 12, by changing "25" to "30".
